Welcome to Alexandria's Live for Today site!
Guerillera Alexandria is a unique, fantastic, incredible, gorgeous, one-of-a-kind, superb Alaskan Malamute. This blog was started by her humom to celebrate her and join her in living in the moment.
Our dogs are with us for such a short time, and sometimes we get caught up in the day-to-day rollercoaster ride of treatment, research, feeding, minute observation ... it is important to remember to enjoy all the happy times and the precious, silly and unexpected moments that make it all worthwhile. Please feel free to post here if you would like to share a moment or memory to help you Live for Today with your dog. Send me an e-mail if you would like to be a regular member.
Best to you and your dog!
Connie and Allie

What a wonderful and honoring idea!
ReplyDeleteI lost my precious and very special friend Carob to renal disease in 1999.
Like your Alexandria, Carob was one of kind, a "special blend" that I always said God made especially for me. As her humom, she taught me many many things and I will forever be grateful for the almost 15 years that we enjoyed together.
One of my favorite memories is my friends' amazement as they proclaimed her "sushi dog". They would toss her a piece of sushi, she'd be all over it and spit out everything but the fish...and it looked like you could place on someone's plate and they'd never know!
I'm grateful for the pictures and video snippets that I have of her....to hear her bark, watch her fetch "her" frisbee, and to stomp her feet with her impatience with me, makes me smile and remember how she blessed me in so many ways.
Best of wishes to you and Alexandria!!!
Thank you for writing about Carob, Kim. What is it with fish? Malamutes are Arctic dogs and are supposed to adore fish, and my young Mal, The Magnificent Ghost, will do cartwheels for it. But Allie is very picky and eats only what I'm having, preferably blackened or herbed... She won't touch "fish" dog food. Maybe that's why Carob lived so long -- all those Omega-3s!
ReplyDeleteDearest A's humom, that's a great theory, of course, my Ms. Carob also managed to get more than her share of pistatio nut shells!! What's up with that??
ReplyDeleteI'll hold those Omega-3s to heart though and remember that was a wonderful thing for her. When she got sick, I did everything that I could possibly find, think, learn to do.
If Allie only eats what you're having, maybe you should consider becoming a pseudo sushi chef!
My guys (11 yo poodle and 4 (?) year old Turkish Van cat both love Jack Mackeral, maybe that's a possible option?
I wish I knew of something helpful to offer, but I think "Live for Today" is wonderful. It's so easy to get caught up in the illness, the care, the treatment... Even if I knew it would still turn out the same, I wouldn't trade one second of my time with Carob. She was the love of my life and I look forward to our reunion.
Wishing you, Allie and the Magnificent Ghost the very best!
